Help offered for death by own action crisis in seminar

A seminar session on death by own action highlighted local agencies and services including CONTACT Trumbull Inc, Family Services Association, Trumbull County Mental Health Center, North Side Hospital youth program, and Compassionate Friends. Howland Zoning Appeals Hearing on March 3

The Howland Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing Thursday March 3 at 7 30 p.m. at the township administration building 169 Niles Cortland Road N E to consider the appeal of Thomas E and Janelle M McLain 9085 Altura Drive N E regarding a zoning inspector’s adverse decision under Section 4 paragraph C of the Howland Township zoning ordinance concerning Lot 56 Heatheridge Allotment in unincorporated Howland Township.

Voter Registration Open at Howland High Through Feb 22

Howland Local School District residents may register at Howland High School to vote on the school levy. Registration hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays at the athletic office outside the gym. The Warren County Board of Elections operates 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The March 22 election will renew the five year, $2 million operating levy first approved in November 1978.

Howland levy seeks 6.15 mill to 1988

Howland School District plans a 6.15 mill operating levy effective January 1 1984 through December 31 1988. Dean Peterson says the levy prevents future deficits and funds operations including a five language curriculum enhanced programs and bus service. High school artists excel at Scholastic Art Awards

Howland High School students Linda Goldies Rochelle Gracilla Richard Kruder and Lee Randolph were named 61 regional finalists to advance to the national Scholastic Art Awards in New York City. Gold Key winners and honorable mentions from Trumbull Mahoning and Columbiana counties were honored at YSU Kilcawley Center with 149 students recognized.

Debra Bower Convicted in Husband Stabbing Case

Debra Bower, 23, was found guilty of the August stabbing death of her husband Dr. Richard Bower, 52, of Howland. Judge Donald Ford noted her drug dependency as a key factor and sentenced her to time in the women’s prison in Marysville after a no contest plea to amended voluntary manslaughter.
