Nearly 200 people filled Avalon Inn for a Salute to Willie Davenport, Howland's famed star and four time Olympian. Davenport, 1962 graduate, received plaques from Bolindale Elementary, plus resolutions from township trustees, county commissioners, and the Ohio legislature. He announced this season would be his final year, plans to spend time with family, and aims to qualify for the World Cup in Germany after competing in Los Angeles in June.
