Chief Delmar E. Miller reports January fire losses totaled 450 dollars, down from 6900 in December 1974 and 1425 in January 1974. The department answered 33 calls in 31 days, including 11 emergencies, plus two automotive, three dwelling, one garage fire, ten miscellaneous, two mutual aid, and four resuscitator calls.

Howland Township trustees announced 1975 appropriations totaling 998,584 to run township business, down from 1,068,708 in 1974. The plan allocates funds to general, motor vehicle, gasoline, road and bridge, police, fire, cemetery, zone, revenue sharing, and other funds, with a 242,464 balance carried over. Meeting dates shifted to February 20, March 6 and March 20 at 7 30 p.m. in the administration room. Representatives from Cooper Art Institute and Cleveland Art Institute will visit Howland High School in February to discuss college entry qualifications.
Three suspects tied to a Howland home burglary were arrested after a 12:35 a.m. call. two were caught at the scene, a third later, and a fourth to be questioned in the cemetery. Police recovered stolen items and noted a rise in local grants and purchases, including a new police cruiser and equipment.
Police data show criminal offenses in January at 81 up from 74 a year earlier. Adult traffic arrests jumped to 84 from 28 last January while juvenile traffic arrests rose to 10 from 6. The report lists detailed 1975 versus 1974 figures for offenses such as breaking and entering and larceny. Officers also note 11 traffic accidents on private property and announce promotions and hires for the township police department.
