Chriss Johnson 16 dropped three bottles into Chesapeake Bay during a family vacation at Howland on June 13. Replies came from Arlington Virginia on July 7 and Middle Point Neavitt Maryland on December 1. The finders described the messages as a new adventure and Chriss waits for the remaining two notes.

Gas well drilled on Mary Sloas property in Howland
Arm strong Company of Wooster drilled for natural gas on North River Road NF property owned by Mary Sloas. After about ten days of around the clock effort the well struck gas at 4600 feet. The site drew crowds and office lights lit the area as Atlas Resources of Coraopolis PA leased 140 acres for the project.
