House moves to new home after 1880 build ends up at Kettering Drive
Mr and Mrs Thomas Gulacy bought the former 8225 Warren Sharon Road house built in 1880 to save it from destruction due to Howland Plaza expansion. Weighing about 130 tons the three story home will be moved by Randy Mines and Al Duncan to an unnumbered lot on Kettering Drive. The bank valued the property at 80 000 dollars on the lot with a projected market value near 120 000 dollars after relocation and setup. The family acquired the home for 5 000 dollars two weeks ago and expect about four years to complete the conversion. The original owners were Brewster per county records with taxes of 7 cents in 1883. The move prompted insurance challenges with Lloyds of London.
