Township trustees approve 1982 appropriations and new administrator
Howland Township trustees on March 30 approved adjusted 1982 appropriations totaling 2.634 million dollars. Clerk G Lee Krauss noted a yearoveryear rise of about 250 thousand, aided by carryover and a property reevaluation. The meeting created a township administrator post, appointing Lloyd Welch at 25,800 yearly plus vacation and mileage. Trustees also authorized two half-ton pickups at 7,184,664 each including rebate and sought bids for tar and black topping.

Appeals board sets hearing Howland Township ZBA hearing set
The Howland Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing on Thursday April 15 at 8 15 p m at the Administration Building. It will review the appeal of William E Taylor and Christine S Furrie through agent Randall P Baker architect from a zoning inspector decision under Section 4 Classification of Uses. They are entitled to be heard and invited to attend.

Auto dealers offer 2.9 percent sales tax refund on used vehicles
Youngstown reports an extended promotion by the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio. From April 5 to May 1 buyers of used cars, trucks or vans in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties will receive a refund equal to the difference between the 5 percent standard tax and a 2.9 percent special rate. Savings run about 84 to 104 dollars on a 4000 dollar purchase depending on county tax.

Annual cookbook deadline nears for 19th edition
The deadline for entries to the 19th Cookbook edition from Phoenix Publications Inc. is April 10. Entries must be typed or printed on one side with name address and phone, one recipe per category, nine categories including Budget Meals, and prizes include a Whirlpool freezer or Litton microwave from Bernard's TV.
