November 11 weather bulletin says Eastern Texas remains fair Monday and Tuesday with possible showers Tuesday along the coast. warmer Monday in northern regions. Oklahoma and Indian Territory expect fair and warmer Monday. Tuesday fair with northerly winds shifting to variable later.

The jury in New York on November 11 awarded $5,000 to the plaintiff Frank Mowbray, a valet, in a breach of contract case against Gould, son of the late Jay Gould. Mowbray claimed he was hired for life at $80 a month after losing an eye and other injuries from an accident on Gould’s yacht.
Washington insiders report pressure from New York supporters of editor John S New of Indianapolis to place him in the treasury portfolio. President McKinley is not inclined to replace Secretary Gage, who is believed to enjoy business confidence. rumors of a Gage resignation are denied.
In San Antonio Texas Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone company executive E K Baker issued a statement declaring nine hours a day six days a week for all exchanges over ten subscribers and overtime paid at double rates on Sundays and holidays. The firm will offer ten days annual paid vacation and Sundays and legal holidays as holidays. no mention of recognizing the union. No other strike developments today beyond quiet expectations and a pending businessmen meeting tomorrow. Major stores halt telephone service pending strike resolution.
In Anoka Minnesota jurors found James Hardy and Elmer Miller not guilty of the May 27 farmhouse killings of Mrs Wise, a young girl, and the Wice family. William Wise and an altar boy were badly wounded. a confession by Hazel Wise, age 15, is cited but unclear.
In Pekin reports say the powers demands to punish Prince Tuan and remove the empress are too humiliating for China to accept. Li Hung Chang and Prince Ching cite crop failures and imminent famine threatening millions.
Disaster reports from Tacoma and Shanghai indicate four to six million Chinese north of Pekin face famine after crop failures. A plan to send one million piculs of tribute rice from Shanghai to distribute to starving regions is halted by Shanghai military officers who ordered no rice to be taken from central China.
Tacoma report says fully half of about a thousand Indians in five tribes in Cook Inlet area are starving due to white prospectors and loss of seasonal income. Mrs James Smith, recent visitor, organized food stock for destitute natives and appeals for aid. Most belong to the Russian church, unable to help, while steamer provisions are sent. Mrs Smith, formerly Martha White, once rescued shipwrecked sailors and earned a medal.
The defense rested with an alibi claim and contended that Wileaigters were coached by detectives seeking the large reward offered by the State, as prosecutors argued the defendants might inherit the farm and a small sum of money.
In Chicago Central Music Hall an anarchist gathering marked the eleventh anniversary of the executions of Fischer Parson Spice and En eel. The event proceeded with little police presence as speakers urged reform and commemorated the executed figures.
