Washington February 14. At the request of the Texan Live Stock association Representative Slayden sought Interior Department action to modify a ruling on Indian Territory leases. The secretary said leases prior to January 1 1890 must end April 1 and may only be made with tribal members in proportionate shares. individuals cannot lease until selecting waghtments. He noted no departure from the ruling but suggested arranging adjacent holdings with landowners.
