The Associated Press reports most Arkansas rain should end by Thursday, except in the south. National Weather Service forecasts cloudy skies and cool temperatures with periods of rain today. Gradual clearing is expected in the extreme north tonight while showers continue elsewhere.
Weather forecast for Hope area shows partly to mostly cloudy conditions with showers, temperatures in the 60s, and overnight lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Rainfall totals from the prior 24 hours are listed for Pine Bluff, El Dorado, Texarkana, Harrison, Memphis, Jonesboro, Little Rock, and Fort Smith. Also includes subscription and mailing rates for the Hope Star, plus advertising and circulation notes.
LeMaistre said Spurr refused to resign and would comment after a full report. Spurr claimed unknown of the ouster move until Monday and would speak after learning further particulars. Other university officials declined comment as LeMaistre cited the chain of authority through the chancellor to the board of regents.

Obituary notices report funeral services for George S. Brandon 62 of Eden N C with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery and survivors including wife Frances son Ford daughter Betsy and brother Robert B. Brandon. Hugh P Dupuy 69 of Hope died in hospital with services at Oakcrest Chapel and burial at Memory Gardens. Kirby Gleghorn 57 of Texarkana died suddenly with services at Grand Avenue Baptist Church and burial at Memorial Gardens.texarkana. Vennie Wells 83 of Prescott died Monday with services at Latimer Funeral Chapel and burial at DeAnn Cemetery. Survivors listed include husband James B. Wells and several children.
