Greene Brys to Appeal Election Outcome

Greene county drys plan to appeal to Circuit court a ruling they lost a countywide local option election. Official returns of the March 31 election showed the drys won by a margin of 73 over advocates for the legal sale of alcoholic beverages. The wets contested the election. At a hearing county Judge Harvey Farrell announced he found 231 legal votes cast in the election. A recount showed the results as 1,086 votes for legal sales and 1,969 against. He ruled the wets won the election.

Dutch Agree to United States of Indonesia

The Hague September reports that Dutch and Indonesian negotiators have unanimously accepted the main points of a statute creating a United States of Indonesia under the crown. The three parties, Dutch, Indonesian Republicans, and Indonesian Federalists, notified the conference committee of their acceptance after a month of talks. The agreement covers the character of the union statute and the positions and functions within the new framework.

V. F. W. sponsors wheel chair project in Hope Arkansas
