Waterboy Cornelius of Patmos Watering Early Hope
Cornelius of Main was among the first waterboys carrying water from Dyke Springs to tawa by wagon before wells eased the town’s needs. He sold water by the barrel or bucket, recalling dry wagon wheels needing a pour. He helped publish the Greenback Herald for Captain A. M. Cutty and recounted town scenes, battles, and notable residents from the 1870s, including a Mexican War camp, Main Street's lumbered paving, and family graves in a private cemetery near the Fines aredo area.
