In Milwaukee on a Sunday night, hundreds of South Side whites attacked police with bricks and bottles after a 14th day of open housing protests by African Americans. Tear gas drove rioters from the streets as 2,500 marchers, moving to the North Side, returned to headquarters. Nineteen arrests and three injuries were reported as officers used gas to disperse the crowd near a viaduct and business street. The crowd chanted Groppi as police fought to restore order.

Two Hempstead County Districts Win Title I Funds
Two Hempstead County school districts received final approval for Title I funds totaling 168,805 for 1967 68. Associate Commissioner W H Moore of the State Department of Education announced allocations for Hope and Patmos districts based on economically disadvantaged students.
