Act 1 Means More Money to Schools
The Arkansas Department of Education released an analysis predicting that if Act 1 passes in November, school revenues would rise by about 1.5 million dollars annually. The report cautions it would limit legislative and governor discretion in budgeting and hinder general-state budgeting, while endorsing no formal stance. It notes the act would reserve at least half of general revenues for public schools and could complicate budgets for other agencies.
