McKee Announces Economy Program in New York
New York Mayor Joseph McKee, in office less than a week, trims his salary by 15 000 yearly from 40 000 and caps other offices at 12 000 annually to save about 2 000 000 a year for the city. He shields workers earning 2 000 or less and helps obtain a 15 000 000 loan at 5 percent, lowering rates citywide. Unsold Cotton to Be Withheld
Washington announces halting of sales of stabilization wheat and government controlled cotton until next year. The Farm Board cites a $50 million Reconstruction Finance loan to suspend sales to allow market benefit for growers and gradual liquidation. Kidnapped Boy Returned Home After 940 Mile Drive
Hubert Johnson Jenkins, indicted in Dallas for kidnapping, arrived in Louisville with the ten year old boy after driving 940 miles in 27 hours. The boy was taken from the home of the late millionaire mayor T. L. Bradford of Dallas and later placed in Bradford's custody following the mother's death.

A La Salle sedan with five occupants overturned on a curve near Cook's gun on Emmet road around 5:30 Tuesday. C. A. Rogers of Shreveport sustained a head wound and bruises, was treated at Josephine hospital, and the others were unharmed. Swiss Confesses Killing American in Alps
A 21 year old Smith College student Miss Jerane Ibershoff of Cleveland Ohio was killed by rock fall during a mountain hike near Zer Matt mountain in the Alps. A 20 year old Swiss man Herr Walther confessed to the murder and was arrested after withdrawing papers at Martigny post office. Police found a bicycle at the scene and said it had been stolen from him. The body was cremated.

Holiday Strikers Hold Back Deputies at James
