Gary Wells of Hope High School is elected treasurer of the Association of Arkansas Bandmasters at Hot Springs clinic meeting. The ABA plans a Bicentennial clinic in Hot Springs next August. Fall rush at the University of Arkansas yields 271 pledges across several fraternities. Grace Baptist Church invites the public to Sunday services with Sunday school at 10 and preaching at 11. James H. McKenzie of Prescott named to the 1975 Outstanding Young Men of America. Rehabilitation counselor Marva Dansby lists September county visits in Hope. Paula Denise Roach of Arkansas State University gained six pounds before the pageant to earn a preliminary swimsuit award and a $1,000 scholarship in Atlantic City. Cynthia Mary Carpenter of Wayland Massachusetts took talent honors with a modern classical piano performance. Debra Cusick of Rhode Island and Susan Banks of Ohio won swimsuit and talent on Wednesday.
Ford argued that recent job growth relies too much on government and that a large bureaucracy hinders prosperity. He urged private sector-led revival and cited proposed reforms to Congress shaping tax policies to spur capital formation and job creation. He said incentives are needed for U S business and industry to expand.

Kiwanis Club invites the community to a pancake supper September 12 from 5 to 7 30 PM in the high school cafeteria before the Hope Bobcat Prescott Curley Wolves game. For 190, attendees get pancakes sausage butter syrup and a drink. All profits fund Kiwanis youth programs and the Golden Age Club.
