The National Weather Service expects a Thursday spread of precipitation over Arkansas with widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms in the far western section tonight. Partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures prevail today, followed by mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures tonight.
The Hope Star reports a vigorous disturbance in southern Nevada that will drift northeastward bringing rain to Arkansas Thursday. A cold front in eastern Colorado is expected to enter western Arkansas Thursday with thunderstorms possible Friday morning. Highs today in the low 80s, Thursday near 70, nights 60s. forecast cooler by weekend. A McDonnell Douglas spokesman says refusal to grant pay raises blocks contract talks with aerospace workers, but the company does not want a strike. He stressed negotiations aim for a settlement aligned with the Boeing company's competitive position, speaking Tuesday in Long Beach California.
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission chairman Joe D. Scott urged Hope Rotary Club to back a proposed license fee rise from 3.50 to 7.50, arguing that deficit spending must stop for future hunting and fishing. Alvin Galloway 70 of Ft Worth died October 29 in a Ft Worth hospital. Survivors include a daughter Helen and a brother Luther, plus two sisters. Graveside services will be in Memory Gardens Hope at 10 a.m. Friday. Janice Chambers Stolzer 33 of Little Rock died from a gunshot wound. Funeral was in Nashville with burial at Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville. Survivors include a son Forrest Stolzer and a daughter Lori Stolzer, mother Audie Doss Chambers, sister Betty Lowery, and grandmother C E Doss. The Ch in Dynasty was the first unified empire in China 221 to 206 B.C.

Lethal 7.5-foot marijuana plant was stolen from a San Rafael home front porch. The caller, who did not identify himself to the San Rafael Independent Journal, claimed the plant was sprayed with a deadly preparation from a handbook that promised a super pot when fully treated. He feared someone could die if the leaves were smoked.

District Governor Bob Shaddock of Camden spoke at the Town and Country luncheon in Hope detailing a planned three phase expansion of the Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind center in Little Rock. The project aims to serve 1.7 million blind Americans and 20 international nations, with a current center valued at 1.5 million dollars and more than 90 staff. The visit highlighted Lions support and fundraising needs for the rehabilitation facility.
