Warning to Boycotting Children in Carthage Schools
State Welfare Commissioner Len Blaylock warned that children boycotting Carthage public schools and from welfare families will reduce their family benefits. Dallas County welfare director Clem Treadwell said 29 welfare children from nine families are involved, with about 175 Negro students boycotting since opening two months ago. Blaylock cited the Education Department noting the churches attended are not approved schools and that aid to dependent children requires attendance at Education Department approved schools.
