Arkansas Weekend Weather Outlook With Showers Forecast

A cold front and strong surface lows bring showers and thunder showers to Arkansas this weekend. Cooler air follows, as temperatures drop sharply across the northern and central Great Plains, with many areas seeing their first snow of the season in the broader region.

Weather front to bring cooler air across the state

The front moving through the state today and tomorrow brings the coolest weather of the season with showers. Highs in the 70s today, 50s to 60s on Saturday, and frost likely in the northern half overnight. Overnight lows vary with locations from the upper 60s to the 40s.

Offices Closed for Veterans Day Observance

All city offices will close Monday for Veterans Day. Sanitation pickup shifts to Tuesday with Tuesday route on Wednesday. Hempstead County offices in the courthouse observe Veterans Day on Monday October 27. Housing Authority also closed.

State overpays nursing homes by twenty five a month

U S auditors say Arkansas overpaid nursing homes by 25 per month for each patient in skilled care under Medicaid. The department weighs cutting payments to avoid more than 200 000 in federal reimbursement after the fiscal year. HEW says the rate was miscalculated though not demanding past refunds.
