Slaying Under Guard
A 24 year old John Linley Frazier is jailed on five counts of first degree murder in Santa Cruz California. He is held under round the clock armed guard at the downtown jail building following his dawn arrest for the killings of Dr Victor Ohta his wife Virginia their two sons Derrick and Taggart and the surgeon's secretary Dorothy Cadwallader. Deputies say no threats against Frazier are known but security is tightened with floodlights and restricted access.

Unanimous bond vote in California valley for power lines

Pilot Crashes Plane Into San Juan Shrine Church
A plane crashed into the Shrine of the Virgin of San Juan Catholic Church in San Juan killing the pilot, Frank Alexander, after a prior radio warning evacuated churches and schools in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. About 25 priests and 40 worshippers were in the shrine, with 100 children nearby. a fire followed, destroying the shrine.
