The Associated Press reports Arkansas will see warm days and cool nights as a high pressure system moves across the nation. The National Weather Service says the main center of this system is over the north, influencing regional conditions for the next several days.
A Hope Star weather summary reports a broad high pressure system over the eastern states extending into central Texas and the southern Rockies. It notes clear skies and light winds, cool nights with ground fog, and no precipitation in the past 24 hours. Temperatures ranged from highs of 78 to 82 and lows from 45 to 55 across several cities including El Dorado Little Rock Pine Bluff Texarkana Jonesboro Fayetteville and Fort Smith. The forecast calls for continued fair conditions with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and lows in the 40s to 50s through Tuesday. Washington Arkansas is now a state park site with 640 acres and 385000 dollars allotted for restoration. Donnie Rankin, appointed park director, spoke to the Hope Rotary Club about creating a premier regional tourist draw through eight restored buildings, a Magnolia tree landmark, and a pioneer cemetery with a goal of 12 restored structures by June 1. The presentation included maps of sites and discussed broader inflation concerns and investment guidance from Charles Jester.
Hope police logged several minor crashes on East Second Street and North Hazel Street with no injuries. A pedestrian, Henry King, was charged with drunkenness after a Friday incident. The week noted 15 traffic violations and 17 accidents, with 289 accidents and 30 injuries so far this year. There were three fatalities to date.
