He rode the special train toward Detroit for a campaign speech and urged limited cooperation in marketing coal and other natural resources to curb destructive competition.

A riot at New York Welfare Island prison started with fighting among peace-makers in the warden's office. George Holshod was stabbed to death as rioting spread to about 200 inmates. 800 police halted the disturbance after about thirty minutes.
Kiwanis club in Hope celebrates electing Rev George F X Strassner lieutenant governor of the Little Rock district. Delegates John F Cox J M Harbin and Strassner reported on the Fort Smith convention with stunts, trips through local industries and a note on missing a district gathering. ClarksvilleMiss Hamilton well known in the north was convicted for attempting to prevent government witness Sai vent J H Pruitt from testifying in two liquor cases involving local farmers. He received six years in prison and a $5000 fine. He was tried in federal court for plotting with Fred Carr Lee and Ellerson Cofer to deter Pruitt from testifying. Hamilton formerly practiced law in Water Va and latterly at Van Ark.
A historic shipment marks the first cotton cargo from Anderson-Clayton’s White River warehouse in about fifty years. The Karolina steamer carried two barge loads totaling around 3,000 bales down the Mississippi toward New Orleans. Additional loading facilities are under construction as trucks haul cotton from across the region and parts of Oklahoma.
