The Associated Press reports continued cool nights and warm days for Arkansas through Tuesday. The National Weather Service expects no rain from Sunday to Tuesday, with highs in the 70s and 80s and lows in the 40s and 50s.
Hope Star reports a cold front moving from Ontario into northeastern Arkansas bringing cooler temperatures by Saturday. Overnight lows span 38 to 53 statewide with highs near 81. Weather notes include no precipitation in the past 24 hours and regional temperatures from several towns. The issue lists staff credits and extensive advertising and subscription rates.
Ford testified under questioning by Miss Holtzman that there was no pardon deal with Nixon and no circumstances for such a deal. He recalled Haig suggesting six options including a pardon, but Haig did not advocate any. Ford said he was stunned by the prospect of becoming president and would consider it overnight.

Rep. Wilbur Mills of Arkansas apologized at a Little Rock Jaycees event for his involvement in the Tidal Basin episode. He recalled drinking champagne and said he was embarrassed, apologizing to friends and family as he faced questions about the Oct. 7 Washington incident.
Hopewell School holds a two day social studies fair on October 24 and 25 with student exhibits and posters. An open house on the 24th invites all parents to view the work, meet staff, and follow class schedules. Principal Rosie Davis urges attendance to support students and learn about the school.
The Leo Club sponsored by Hope Lions plans a rummage sale Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the former Walker's Used Furniture site on Main Street between American Jeans and Greening Ellis. Lions are asked to donate clothing, household items, jewelry, toys and other salable goods, delivered 9 a.m. to noon the sale day. The fundraiser supports youth service activities and leadership development in the community.
