A sub machine gun traced to W L Hulse, former Horatio city marshal, was mailed in July to Charles Grant in Longview Texas. Inspector Meyers recovered the weapon in Horatio, leading to Hulse's arrest and conviction for the Horatio bank robbery. The gun may be used as evidence in federal charges for mailing firearms.

Stolen Autos Are Returned to Hope
Two cars stolen near Hope were recovered. A Pontiac sedan owned by Tully Henry was found abandoned near Coushatta Louisiana with an empty gas tank and a flat tire after a farmer reported the car and described the suspected driver. A Marquette sedan stolen from Jim O Neal last Saturday was located six miles north of Camoine with a flat tire and broken windshield, showing evident damage from a ditch.
