Nasser's Pick Unacceptable to Russia

Beirut April 2 AP diplomats report Nasser named Zakaria Mohieddin as his successor before death but he is under house arrest as the Soviet Union would not back a Mohieddin led government. Anwar Sadat is nominated by the Arab Socialist Union and will be voted in as sole candidate in the nationwide referendum. Kosygin signaled Moscow would not support Mohieddin, favoring Air Marshal Ali Sabry in the behind the scenes power struggle. Also noted is clarification that Jesus son of Sirach authored Ecclesiasticus, not Jesus of Nazareth.
