Gurdon Man Beaten to Death In Negro Neighborhood
Clarence Jones, 40, of Wheeling Springs, and Lee Maudlin Jr., 46, were found beaten in a Gurdon street Friday night. Maudlin, a radio and television repairman, died. Jones was listed in satisfactory condition at the University of Arkansas Medical Center. Authorities said Maudlin was run over by a vehicle. Jones had also been beaten.

Train Hits Auto at 4th Louisiana
Two weekend accidents were investigated by City Police on Saturday at 4th and Louisiana Streets. An L& A train, engineered by Van H. Norman of Minden, La, struck an auto driven by Rudolph C. Ficks of Hope. the auto was badly damaged but no one was injured. There is no signal light at the crossing. Sunday at 9 a.m. autos driven by Henry Williams and Douglas Henderson collided at 6th and Edgewood with some damage. Williams was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
