The Hope Church of the Nazarene on Rolston Road begins a fall revival campaign from Tuesday October 7 to Sunday October 12. Evangelist Rev. C B Cox and song evangelist Mrs Cox lead nightly services at 7 30 pm, with Rev John Hoffman inviting all to attend. Mrs Cox will provide special music each evening. Joseph Henry Wilson 83 of Hope died Monday in a local nursing home. A retired millwright from Hope Basket Company and Baptist Church member, he is survived by two daughters Mrs. Kuykendall and Mrs. Crews, two sons Billy Joe and Bobby Wayne, two sisters and many grandchildren. Services 1 p.m. Wednesday at Nazarene Church Rosston Highway. Rev. Hoffman officiates. Burial at Harts Chapel Cemetery near Curtis.
The appeal hearing for Shobek is delayed as the court cites errors in the prior decision. Shobek, son of a Milwaukee school custodian, pleaded guilty to killing Irwin Borstein of New York, Paul Howell of Massillon, and Katie Smith of Detroit, claiming a divine command. Police Lt. Frank Bolz led a hostage negotiation to end a Greenwich Village bank standoff with gunman Ray Olsen and ten hostages. Over eight hours Bolz used boredom and strategic concessions, including food and beer, to tire Olsen and prompt a lapse that allowed officers to seize the weapons and free the captives.
Irish police hunt two suspects after 53 year old P J Herrema, managing director of the Ferenka steel plant near Limerick, is kidnapped by an IRA splinter group.
