Nine Hope Junior Auxiliary members joined Region V National Association of Junior Auxiliaries at Hot Springs on October 3. The First Baptist Church hosted with regional director Mrs. F G Larrimore leading the business session. Charles Griffee spoke on Arkansas Children's Hospital project. workshops followed led by national president and officers. luncheon at Holiday Inn Lake Hamilton. Hot Springs Madrigal Singers provided entertainment. Hope attendees included Mrs. Kenneth Paddie and others.

Ariyoshi Wins Demo Nomination for Hawaii Governor

Acting Governor George Ariyoshi won the Democratic nomination in Hawaii over Frank Fasi and Thomas Gill, advancing to face Randolph Crossley in November. Crossley led the Republican primary by a wide margin, while Sen. Daniel Inouye secured renomination without opposition.

Pearl Moses Garner 86 died Sunday in a local hospital. She taught in First Baptist Church Sunday school for 48 years and is survived by one daughter Opal Hervey of Hope, a brother Harley Moses of Corinth, four sisters, and other relatives. Ford speaks with Kansas wheat farmers over grain cancelations

President Ford phoned Kansas wheat country during a grand opening in Otis where Clarence Ochs and about 1,500 farmers heard of the cancellation of 500 million dollars in U.S. grain exports to the Soviet Union.
