Conner Appliance & Supply Co has opened at 116 East Third Street in the former Hoali Auto Supply location next to the Unique cafe. The firm, formerly May day Sales & Service, moved from Division and Laurel streets and offers Maytag appliances including washing machines and freezers, Coolerator refrigerators, Home freezers, and electric ranges. The Sunbeam line features the Mixmaster and other models in the new shop.

In Memphis Tennessee last night a westbound freight struck a waiting train, killing engineer E. Talley age 64 of Chaffee Missouri and injuring brakeman Ralph Lape also of Chaffee. Firemen H T Wilburn and W G Hajl were treated at a Memphis hospital after leaping from the cars. The wreck involved a four car freight pulled by diesel units and occurred about a mile from the Mississippi river bridge.
