Two Fort Smith Residents Killed in Highway Crash
Warner Oklahoma AP reported two Fort Smith Arkansas residents were killed when their car collided with a truck on U.S. 64 about 34 miles east of here. Earl Gregory, 44, and Jimmy Lynn Knight, 17, both of Fort Smith, were trapped as the car burst into flames. The truck driver was identified as Herbert McCandless, 27, of Burlington North Carolina.

An investigation remained ongoing Thursday evening into a fire that destroyed Hillcrest Restaurant in Pocahontas Arkansas. Fire officials said shattered glass and debris near the site indicated the blaze began with an explosion.

Three Highway Deaths On Arkansas Holiday Weekend

Pope Stays Calm After Bolivian Attacker Foiled in Manila
Pope Paul VI continued his Asia tour in Manila amid a knife attack by Benjamin Mendoza Amor, a 35 year old Bolivian painter in clerical garb.
