Holiday luncheon at Vo-Tech Thanksgiving menu
The Red River Vocational Technical School invites the public to a Thanksgiving luncheon from 11 to 12:30 on Wednesday November 27. Tickets are $2. The menu includes chicken and dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, pickles, string beans, corn, cole slaw, homemade cake, tea and coffee. Proceeds support student participation in Phi Beta Lambda state and national conventions and contests in typing shorthand bookkeeping and vocabulary.

Gordon Ark plant to close after Arkla Chemical sells about 33,000 acres of timberlands in Arkansas to International Paper Co. for roughly 18.5 million dollars. Filipino boy heads for unusual reunion at airport
At Washington Dulles International Airport 16 year old Napoleon Lechoco Jr. arrived after a 10,000 mile Pacific journey to reunite with his family. His mother and relatives greeted him warmly as an attorney said the family would seek a visit with his father who surrendered after holding the Philippine ambassador at gunpoint. The boy had been in the United States since last year while finishing school and helping his grandfather.

Thunderstorm damage north of Memphis and surrounding hail
A thunderstorm produced high winds and large hail north of Memphis Tennessee causing damage overnight. Funnel clouds were spotted in Mississippi and Florida with additional reports of heavy hail in southern Mississippi. The system brought scattered showers from the Gulf Coast to the Lower Ohio Valley and turned to snow in the northern mountains as a new front entered the Northwest. Temperatures plunged into the teens and 20s in parts of the northern Plains and Rockies while the rest of the north stayed mild.
