Existing Colleges See Dangers in Statewide Junior Colleges
Sliced Thin by The Editor warns against a law to establish junior colleges across Arkansas funded by state guarantees. Dr. Imon E. Bruce of Southern State College argues such a system would drain funds from established higher education and harm salaries, enrollments, and program quality across state colleges and vocational schools. He notes cooperation with area vocational institutes and cautions political criticism could divert talented students from traditional programs.
