SHERIDAN Arkansas AP two women escapees from Cummins Prison Farm were caught at a Smith service station after being reported missing from their barracks earlier. Louise Loyd 35 of Plumerville serving five years for bank robbery and Linda Ann Brown 38 of North Little Rock serving eight years for second degree murder were identified.
In Saigon the Associated Press reports American and South Vietnamese forces crossed the border into Cambodia to strike North Vietnamese artillery positions near Bu Prang. Nine enemy soldiers were killed as U.S. and South Vietnamese fighters mounted retaliatory strikes, with other bombers hammering targets inside South Vietnam near Duc Lap. American losses were not disclosed.
Harvey L. Sanders age 51 of Clarksville Arkansas was killed when his trailer truck was struck by a freight train at a Checotah crossing. Passenger Joe Carver 26 of Harrison Arkansas was hospitalized in critical condition at Muskogee Oklahoma.
Ethel Bell Wright, 76, died when a fire destroyed her house six miles southeast of Malvern. She lived alone. Officials have not determined the fire’s cause.

U S and Soviet envoys begin preparations for arms limitation talks in Helsinki as President Nixon urges a halt and reversal of the nuclear arms race. Soviet diplomat Vladimir Semenov endorses the dialogue. The talks move into private sessions at the American embassy after an opening in a historic Helsinki mansion. Two people died in Arkansas highway crashes, identified as Earnest L. Purifoy, 18, of Bluff City, and Cora Brazell, 45, of near Lewisville. Purifoy died Saturday night in a two vehicle crash on Arkansas 24 about six miles west of Camden. Brazell died Sunday morning when her car overturned on Arkansas 29, one-fourth mile north of Lewisville.
Hempstead Circuit Court opened with Judge W H Arnold II presiding over a civil case involving Mrs Myrtle O Rorke and an insurance firm. Five prisoners were to appear for pleas with no date set for Dennis Turner’s Christmas day killing robbery case. Richard Turner also faces robbery and burglary charges. both deny guilt.
