Rotarians hear talk on grocery business
C M Cox spoke to the Hope Rotary Club on The World's Largest Business the Grocery Business at its November 11 luncheon in the Sheraton Inn. Cox, purchasing head for Stephens Grocery since 1950, outlined growth from 1935 and the 60-employee, half a million dollar payroll operation with a 24 hour system and four product catalogs. He projected 810 million in gross sales for the year, noting four needs: warehouse expansion, wider area coverage, more produce items and extended food service.
