Rain ends by Monday says the National Weather Service. The outlook calls for mostly cloudy skies and cool conditions through Saturday with widespread rain statewide. Scattered light rain continues in southeastern Arkansas today as reports come in from local stations.

Services held Friday at Union Baptist Church for Mrs Pearl Ellis 85 of Prescott who died Wednesday night in a Prescott nursing home. She was a Nevada County native and a Baptist. Burial in Union Cemetery near Rosston. Survivors include four sons Cleo Mitchell Memphis Tenn Arlis Ellis and Dale Ellis both of Prescott Stat Ellis Emmet four daughters Caroll Ellis Dudley Ark Cora Stokes Prescott now Farris Hooks Tex and Edward Miller Prescott 39 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
U S District Judge John J. Sirica said he will appoint a three doctor panel including a heart specialist and an internist to assess Richard Nixon. The panel would decide if Nixon is healthy enough to testify in the Watergate cover up trial, with a decision expected by next week.
The District Legal Aid Office for Social Services formerly at 116 South Walnut St has moved to El Dorado. W M Sparks, previously attorney for Social Services, is no longer with the Welfare Department and operates a general practice at 116 South Walnut.
James Gaines and Gus Hogan bought the old First National Bank building at 2nd and Main in Hope with renovations to begin soon. Community notes include thanks to voters for millage supporting the firemen's relief and pension fund, a Prescott High School 1974 homecoming queen profile, and a Hempstead County Rescue Unit meeting with a fire prevention class at the high school. Also covered are Cub Scout visits to the police station, counselor schedules for Arkansas Rehabilitation Service visits, a district cheerleading contest at Fair Park, and open house plans for Prescott and Hope schools.
