North Little Rock overwhelmed Hope Bobcats 24-0 at the North Little Rock high school field Friday night. The Wildcats dominated, especially after a responsive drive to Hope’s 15 yard line, then again to the goal in the second score drive.
Bridge tolls on ten state bridges totaled 26 499.10 in October, down about 8 000 from September after the state halted selling coupon books October 1. Early November receipts show rebound as coupons were redeemed, with DeValis Bluff leading at 7 631.10 and Augusta at 22 267.50 among others.

Washington reports from party collection agencies show the 1896 era economy in play. The Republican National Committee says it collected 1 838 000 and spent 1 960 000 by November 2 while the Democratic Committee says it took in 1 427 000.
Arkansas voters face eight proposed amendments and initiated acts in a low key campaign. Democrats push presidential funds, Republicans run a lighter bid with three state offices at stake. Third parties Socialist Liberty and Communist field electors and governors with candidates Clay Fulks and H. C. Coney.
The Star reports that Hope Star will receive the full leased wire from Associated Press Tuesday night and issue an election extra around midnight, with a final paper Wednesday morning for rural subscribers. The extra will include electoral college tabulations, party maps, and bios of winners. 50,000 tabulators nationwide will contribute to rapid, checked results.
New York state police were forced to shoot a maniac who had barricaded himself in the basement of the Jesus of Mary convent after killing a man. Neither the attacker nor the victim was identified.
A lone bandit robbed the Bank of Columbiana in Columbiana Alabama, taking an estimated 12 thousand to 15 thousand dollars on Saturday.
Athens Greece. A decision in Samuel Insull's extradition case likely will be handed down late Saturday afternoon by the Court of Appeals as defense counsel completes their plea for Insull's release.
The Sinclair service station at Third and Walnut streets was purchased by Bennie C. Shipp from Goad Brothers. Shipp, known in local business, previously worked with Hope Fertilizer and served as its receiver in dissolution. Audit Group Meet in Little Rock. Highway Audit Commission held an executive session Saturday.

It opposes six dollar per child school funding, the Homestead Amendment, and a Sales Tax Amendment, while noting some merit in amendments 20 and 23. It endorses Governor Futrell’s program as covering beneficial aspects of the proposals.

Edwin Shortees of Kiwanis International commends the Hope club for strong year to date membership gains in the Missouri Kansas Arkansas district. The Friday meeting at the New Capital hotel featured Halloween decorations and an attendance prize for R V Herndon who won by retrieving an apple from water. The club also won a district prize for sending the most members the greatest miles to a district Kiwanis event.
Nick Messer 29 a former Hempstead county citizen was found dead with a crushed head Thursday night in Kilgore Texas his body to be shipped to Hope for burial at Rocky Mound Methodist church 2:30 Sunday. He is survived by his mother Lula Messer eight brothers C E Messer Clifford Vernon Othel Alfred Cleve Clyde and Walter of Rocky Mound and three sisters Mrs Gerald Ranger Mrs Charles Stephens and Ava Lou Messer of Rocky Mound.
The Elks club at the clubhouse will host a special election night program on Tuesday November 8 featuring an electrical phonograph broadcast of Grand Exalted Ruler Judge Floyd E Thompson of Moline Ill addressing 1500 Elks Clubs nationwide at 11 pm. A social program and live election returns follow with a pledge to 100 percent Americanism and non political, non sectarian spirit.
Senator Joe T. Robinson told a Democratic rally in Arkansas that the Harding Coolidge Hoover administrations betrayed a pledge to restore equality for farmers with other industries. He attacked Republican leaders as confused and said the Hawley Smoot tariff failed as agricultural relief.
Boston economist and Democrat Edward A. Filene released a speech outlining a "formula" for the election. He urged: if you are out of a job, vote against the party in power, arguing unemployment is preventable and leaders will lose if working people are denied jobs.
The New York cotton market rose for the second straight day as Saturday added 24 points to the previous close. The jump equates to 1.20 per bale, with December and May futures showing gains and a volatile session from Friday’s close through Saturday’s high and low.
