The countdown began at 5 30 a m EDT for a 28 day flight to repair the crippled Skylab. Astronauts Conrad Kerwin and Weitz prepare for sun shade deployment to cool the lab from 130 to about 70 degrees. Ground fire hits Cambodian DC3 airliner
A Cambodia Air DC3 was struck by ground fire near Svay Rieng wounding one passenger and setting the aircraft ablaze before it returned to Svay Rieng. The Cambodian military reported the incident as the second such hit in four days following a fatal crash nearby last Saturday with 11 aboard.

Calvin A Powell 46 of Hope died May 20. He was survived by his parents, a brother, four sisters, and was buried at Betts Cemetery after services May 21 in Herndon Funeral Home Chapel. W M Blackard 83 died May 22 in Ozark. Survivors include a son, a daughter, two sisters, a brother, and several grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and announced by Edwards Funeral Home of Fort South.

West to appeal second degree murder conviction in Arkansas
