Allies Test Earth Shock Bombs Against Submarine Pens
In Wiesbaden on May 20, Allied forces described earth shock bombs as the latest experiment to destroy enemy submarine pens. Four-engine bombers from the United States and Britain joined flights over Bremen and Marham to test penetrating a 14 foot wall with 15 to 28 foot thick concrete. The aim is to reveal full destructive potential without confirmation of Soviet observers or links to postwar aerial offense changes.
