Seventy-Two Seniors to Graduate May Twenty Three
The 1946 graduating class will have baccalaureate services on May 19 at 8 pm in the high school auditorium. Reverend Paul Holdridge will deliver the sermon. Seventy-two seniors will march in gowns, with juniors following, as the program includes processional, scripture, prayers, glee club performances, sermon by Rev H Paul Holdridge, doxology, and benediction.

Registration for New Year Is Completed
On April 9 the high school students completed their registration for the 1946 47 school year. Courses are selected in spring to start fall schedules, with summer class assignments ensuring readiness. Students are reminded of graduation requirements: four years English, three years history including American history, one year mathematics, one year science, and advisable extra science and math. Diploma requires sixty four quality points and sixteen units. fewer points yield a certificate.
Hi-Lights 16th Edition Delivers Joy to Staff
Staff celebrate the 16th Hi-Lights edition as the morning announcements arrive and papers are distributed to home rooms. The day brings relief and pride as another year of the Hi-Lights succeeds with busy staff awaiting tabloid day festivities.

High school students will assemble Friday morning May 24 at 8 30 for the last time this school year to receive report cards. After dismissal, the high school and grade school faculties will meet at the Home Economics cottage to discuss plans for the next year with Mr Jones and Mr Whitten in charge. Refreshments will be served by high school teachers afterward.

Hope Hi-Lights Students Win State Press Awards
Hi-Light staff members from Hope Hi-Lights received awards in the spring contest sponsored by the Arkansas High School Press Association. W. J. Lemeke, editor, noted the 1946 contest drew the largest number of entries in the association’s history. Awards included Hazel Spillers fifth in speech report and Bonnie Anthony fourth in news photo, among others across several categories.

Senior Day Outing Welcomed By Class Of 1946
The class of 1946 celebrated Senior Day with eighty two seniors, sponsors Mrs. Perkins and Miss Drake, and Mr. Jackson. They met at City Hall, traveled to Hope Country Club for sunrise breakfast, then to Texarkana for a picnic at Spring Lake Park. An evening banquet at the Barlow Hotel featured a varied menu and entertainment led by Elizabeth Wilson.

Senior Play You Said It Well Received by Students
The senior class presented You Said It a three act comedy on May 17 in the high school auditorium with both matinee and evening performances. The action unfolds in the lobby of Gallop Inn Adirondack resort hotel and features a large cast led by Mrs Polly Gallop and Hazel Spillers with a cast of inn staff crooks and guests. A director and promoter guided the show with intermissions featuring Colleen Coffee and Winfred Huckabee, plus a Baby Show with student participants between acts.

Hazel Spillers, a senior at Hope High School, was chosen by her class and faculty on January 16 to represent the school as Good Citizenship Girl, sponsored by the Daughters of American Revolution. Summer School Classes to Start May 27
Summer term for junior and senior high students begins May 27 with classes held daily until noon. Each student limited to two subjects. ninth to twelfth grade subjects are two hour periods, seventh to eighth grade one hour. Second session runs July 8 to August 9 with same subjects and periods.
