American poet Ogden Nash, renowned for witty doggerel, died at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore at age 68 after kidney failure and a May 9 stroke. Born August 19, 1902 in Rye New York he later married Frances Rider Leonard in 1931 and moved to Baltimore. He rose from advertising copy to editor at the New Yorker and authored more than a dozen verse books including Hard Lines. He also wrote lyrics for One Touch of Venus.
