Government to tailor daily weather reports for farmers
The Agriculture Department and NOAA announced a joint program to tailor weather data for local farming needs and to expand a volunteer weather reporting network. State extension workers in drought states will team with Weather Service offices to guide farmers on hay cutting timing, harvest readiness, pest and disease control, irrigation, and fertilizer use.

Cancer drugs linked to higher risk of second cancer
A major study by National Cancer Institute researchers finds ovarian cancer patients treated with alkylating agents have a significant risk of later developing acute non lymphocytic leukemia. Among 5,455 ovarian cancer patients, 13 developed this leukemia, all of whom had alkylating treatment and many also received radiation.
