Kay Coleman Initiated Into Thetas At Southern State College

Kay Coleman daughter of Mr and Mrs N B Coleman of Fulton was among 29 Southern State College students initiated into the Arkansas Theta chapter of Alpha Chi national scholastic fraternity on May 4. The honor is bestowed to juniors and seniors in the top ten percent with faculty approval. Kay is a 1968 Hope High School graduate and a junior medical technology major, active in Harrod Hall Student Senate AWS and science clubs. Linda Harris also initiated. she is a junior sociology major and active in several campus groups.

Bloodmobile returns May 10 and 11 for two day drive

Under the Red Cross distribution rule twenty percent of county blood goes to the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. Bumpers Sees Fair Apportionment Plan Near Completion

Larry David Stanbaugh son of Mrs Arthur Hagaman of Route 3 is in training at Fort Sam Houston Texas with the U S Army Medical Training Center. He and his family have lived in Hope three years and prior to service he worked at Hope Brick Works. After training he will serve in Vietnam or Germany.

Five Tons of Marijuana Seized Off San Francisco Vessels

Federal officers chased and boarded the converted shrimp boat Mercy Wiggins in the Pacific near the Golden Gate, discovering five tons of marijuana valued at about 1.4 million dollars. The haul filled 333 bags and led to multiple arrests across the Mercy Wiggins, the Andiamo, and a San Francisco Marina camper.
