Fire destroys Bearden Furniture Co and damages drug store
Fire destroyed the Bearden Furniture Co. building and heavily damaged the adjacent Bearden Drug Store in Bearden Arkansas early today. Firefighters from Camden and Fordyce fought the blaze. Three north Hempstead youths remained in a local hospital today with injuries from a wreck involving a truck on Highway 29 Monday night. Bob Hicks of near McCaskill suffered broken ribs and facial cuts. Gail Carman had bruises and a chin cut. Bill Shapley of Blevins endured a broken nose. John Shapley was unharmed. State Police Officer Stokes said a loaded log truck parked with no warning signals caused the collision. the truck owner, Robert Doss, posted bond on two charges.
