Merger Seen Healthy for Arkansas Gas Firms

Public Service Commission Chairman Lewis Robinson calls the $13 million merger of Arkansas Louisiana Gas Co and MidSouth Gas Co the finest thing for stability. The boards of both firms approved the plan, with PSC noting a hearing date not yet set. The deal would give MidSouth a stable gas supply and Ark-Mo Power Co. possible affiliate status to improve reliability for northeastern and eastern Arkansas.

Tunisia Talks to Be Resumed

President Bourguiba told reporters at the White House that talks between France and Algerian nationalists are likely to resume on May 11 in Evian France.
