Forecasters report temperatures in the mid 50s for the northeast and northwest regions, with upper 50s to low 60s elsewhere including the southeast and southwest. Conditions described as mild with no major storms indicated in the early transmission.
Little Rock officials said the police department would not accept any portion of a $25,000 reward raised by the Chamber of Commerce for solving the 1959 Labor Day bombings. A suit by four youths to collect the reward is in Pulaski Chancery Court. Four of five arrestees are imprisoned. one received a suspended sentence.
In Hempstead County Chancery Court Arkansas Kansas David Larry Bruce sues Judith Ferrand Bruce. Defendant is warned to appear within 30 days and answer the complaint. Clerk Jamie Russell notes the seal. date appears as April 25, 1981 with publication dates April 27 and May 4 11 18 1961.
The Saratoga School District No 12 Hempstead County Ark board met Sept 24 1960 at Saratoga High School and adopted a resolution to apply for a $5 000 revolving loan fund loan to be repaid over six years from operating or surplus funds. Proceeds will fund completing an elementary building at McNab. Board President A R Mobley Secretary Mary S Goodman May 4 1961.
A crowded bridal shower honored Miss Connie Harvey bride elect of Freddie Max Glaze at the Caddo Hotel private dining room in Arkadelphia. Guests wore yellow and white, gifts were opened with hostesses and friends assisting, and refreshments included yellow punch and cake squares. The event drew more than fifty attendees including relatives from Prescott Malvern Donaldson Bluff City and Glaze family members.
Catherine DeLamar celebrated her fifth birthday with a party at the Community Center hosted by Mr. and Mrs. B. A. DeLam ar. Guests included Mary and Jim DeLamar Lynn Nelson David Gordon Renee Blackwood Linda Brackman Linda and Bill Bates Lisa Ward Doug and Paula Guthrie Teresa Daniel and others. Decorations featured white mums and colored balloons. After gifts, games, punch ice cream and a birthday cake were served. Relatives and friends from Stamps and nearby towns attended with hosting family members assisting.
Walter Jackson aged 49 of Helena was killed Tuesday night in a two car collision on Highway 86 near Holly Grove. State Police said he rode as a passenger in Archie Boho’s Helena driven car that struck a vehicle driven by Robert Neals of Clarendon.
Replacement in the NAACP lawsuit in Little Rock names John T. Jernigan as substituted defendant. Chancellor Murray O. Reed ordered the change due to Jernigan’s reluctance and to move a suit challenging four 1958 acts aimed at school desegregation. The case, filed February 1960, involves Holt, Bruce Bennett, and Arch Campbell with the NAACP alleging the laws harass the civil rights group and affect county judges and prosecuting attorneys in actions against groups seen as interfering with public schools.
President Kennedy ordered a sweeping review of the CIA and other U.S. foreign information activities. He established a new foreign intelligence advisory board led by MIT’s Dr. James R. Killian Jr. to advise on objectives and conduct of intelligence for national defense and policy.
Paul Hogan of New Orleans spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Yarbrough. Centenary College students in Shreveport were listed among guests. Mr. and Mrs. Hansel Herring visited their daughter Mrs. George Frita and Mr. Fritz in North Little Rock. Harold McKinney announces the arrival of daughter Amy Kate on April 30 at Cora Donnell Hospital. Helena was named for Helena Phillips and the county for her family.

The attorney general's office ruled that 13 counties of the 1st Congressional District must cover the expenses of the special election in which Mrs Catherine Norrell was named to succeed her late husband. The ruling went to Pine Bluff City Atty George Holmes who had asked if Pine Bluff was required to pay any expenses.
