Communist Junk Burns Kills 13 in Macau Explosion
A cargo junk from Communist China smashed into a breakwater near Macao on Wednesday night and exploded. Thirteen crewmen died in the fire. One survivor, Kwok Sin-king, said the junk left Canton for Hainan Island with a sulphite cargo. Sources doubted the sulphite would explode with such force. The blast shook Macao’s waterfront as reports said China used seagoing junks to move oil, jet fuel, and war supplies to Red military installations on Hainan Island across the Gulf of Tonkin.
