McMath to Defend Rapist's Appeal in Arkansas Case
The 8th U S Circuit Court of Appeals appointed former Arkansas Gov. Sid McMath to represent Lonnie Mitchell in a death sentence appeal. Mitchell, 32, was convicted in 1959 of raping a 77 year old white woman in Union County and the Arkansas Supreme Court upheld the conviction.
