Thundershowers to end early Tuesday across Arkansas

Storms covered most of northern Arkansas with street flooding in west central areas. Rain should taper tonight as a Pacific front crosses behind a low, bringing cooler Tuesday weather. Lows reach the 40s to 60s, with Pine Bluff 57 and Little Rock 55. Rainfall totals ranged from .03 to .84 inches in several towns.

Bids invited for grazing leases at Millwood Lake

The Tulsa District of the Corps of Engineers seeks sealed bids for grazing leases on seven tracts near Ashdown Arkansas. Tract sizes range 90 to 400 acres, for four years nine months starting April 1 1974. Bids due March 27 at 1:00 p.m. Maps and forms available from Millwood Resident Office or Tulsa District Real Estate Division.

Guardsmen raise funds for Easter Seal drive in Arkansas

Twenty one Arkansas National Guard units collected Saturday for the 1974 Easter Seal Campaign. Adjutant General Major General Joe Chappell Jr said volunteers staffed intersections street corners and shopping centers with over half the funds staying in their counties for crippled children and adults ahead of the March 30 31 telethon. Participating communities included Arkadelphia Brinkley Charleston Clarksville Conway DeQueen DeWitt Hazen Hope Hot Springs Lonoke Marked Tree Mena Newport Perryville Prescott Russellville Searcy Stuttgart Texarkana and Walnut Ridge.

Betty Hays Named to Arkansas School for the Blind and Deaf

Governor Dale Bumpers announced the appointment of Betty Hays of Hope to the Arkansas School for the Blind and Deaf for a term expiring January 14, 1979. She will replace Commander David Evans, retired, of Batesville whose term expired.

Local men complete emergency EMT training at Red River

Royce Pendergrass announced completion of the Emergency Medical Technician Ambulance course today. The 25 week program, designed to help ambulance drivers and other emergency personnel meet requirements, was conducted through Red River's Continuing Education Program and structured by Mary Turner R.N.

Obituaries for Anna D. Brown John W. Welch and Ed Edney

Anna D. Brown aged 94 died in a local hospital on Sunday with daughters Eather Thompson Dolores Walker and Lillian Hake nine grandchildren and great grandchildren surviving. Burial was in Belton Cemetery after services at Herndon Chapel. John W. Welch aged 83 of 715 West Ave A died in a local hospital Saturday. He was a Church of Christ member and World War I veteran survived by his wife Kathleen. Services were at Herndon Chapel with burial in Memory Gardens. Ed Edney of Little Rock served as State Health Department Coordinator with Dr Lowell Harris as local medical coordinator. Graduation exercises were held at Perry’s Restaurant on Thursday March 7 with Ricky Adkison and Richard Milner among Hope area graduates.
