Elizabeth Said Looking for Another Child
Reports from New York state Princess Elizabeth of Britain may have a second child this year with birth likely in late summer or autumn. She reportedly shopped for maternity clothes as Prince Charles neared his first birthday and her husband, Prince Philip, served in the Royal Navy in the Mediterranean. The piece notes the first child born November 14, 1948, and references a potential public announcement timing similar to the prior birth.

Dorothy Dix Advice on Inlaws and Housekeeping
A collection of Dorothy Dix columns offering blunt guidance on family support, grandmothers babysitting, spousal duties, and the dangers of parental interference. The pieces advise treating care of children as a business proposition, potential divorce for failing to provide a home, and warning that fathers-in-law can disrupt marriages as surely as mothers.

Military Seeks More Atomic Control Power
Washington March 8 A new move to give the military a larger role in the civilian atomic energy program split members of the Joint Senate House atomic committee. Senators Tydings and Kilday introduced bills to require the President to appoint active or retired armed forces members to the AEC and to allow a second armed services member. Bricker supported military on the commission while Johnson and others urged civilian control, arguing the civilian-run AEC has operated since January 1947.
