Pittsburg March reports that several thousand rail workers furloughed during the soft coal strike returned to duty. ICC lifted most freight restrictions and restored passenger service on coal-burning lines at reduced levels. Major lines like Baltimore and Ohio and Chesapeake and Ohio rehired hundreds as production nears normal.
London March . Michael Shipkoy former Bulgaria translator for the U S legation in Sofia was sentenced to five years in prison by a Bulgarian court on a guilty plea to spying for the United States. He and four others were tried after an affidavit from the U S state department claimed he was tortured. The others received lengthy sentences Kina Rindova twelve years Sefan Krat Ulov ten years Incjmn Tzanov eight years and six months.
