Rockefeller tax plan crushed on first special session day

Arkansas lawmakers rejected both major elements of Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller's 35 million dollar tax program as the special session opened. The income tax rate revision would raise about 20.5 million dollars and extending the 3 percent sales tax to services would yield about 10 million. Rockefeller, angered by the defeats, left the Capitol without answering reporters. He suggested no comment on plans after the setback.

Hempstead County voters set March 10 millage and posts
